The Work is Done … Can You Imagine?!
So many great things came out of the 188th semiannual general conference. I look forward to journal/blogging about them, but this particular moment at the end of conference hit me hard and it is fresh on my mind, so I wanted to write it down.
At the end of conference President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct twelve new temples. It’s always fun to hear the reaction from the audience when temples are announced. People from all over the world can’t help but get excited when they hear a temple is being constructed near them or near family who have dreamed of having a temple close by.
It was on the heels of that announcement, and the audible excitement from the congregation, that President Nelson described the continuation of the work until “the great Jehovah shall say, the work is done.” This quote comes from the Prophet Joseph Smith’s proclamation called the Standard of Truth. I quoted it often in the mission field. But today when I heard it I actually imagined the Savior among all his brothers and sisters, myself included, and those who we grew up with in our premortal lives, and I saw Him say “the work is done.” Can you imagine?!
Can you imagine back in our premortal existence when we were all present and the Father and the Son announced we would be coming to this earth? How excited we were about the beginning of His work? We’ve been receiving significant changes a piece at a time hastening His work, and all of those announcements have felt euphoric. But can you imagine the joy, the peace, the absolute rapture when our Savior finally says “the work is done”?!
Can … you … IMAGINE?!?!?!?!
